ELK TOWNSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOL
DISCIPLINE CODE
Just
as laws are made in society to protect the rights of citizens the Elk Township
Board of Education has established rules and regulations to secure a safe and
orderly school environment. Students
who are unable to follow the established discipline code deprive other students
of educational opportunities and will be subject to disciplinary penalties. The Board believes that the best discipline
is self-imposed and students should learn to assume responsibility for their
own behavior and the consequences of their actions.
The
purpose of the Board of Education in adopting this discipline code is to
provide a framework which facilitates consistent, fair, and clearly understood
discipline procedures. It is
acknowledged by the Board that no written list of rules and penalties can ever
be all-inclusive and that is the responsibility of the school administration to
interpret, apply, and perhaps even deviate from the code using their best
professional judgment. Copies of the
Discipline Code shall be given to each student during the first week of the
school year.
